In today's competitive market visitors not only expect quality they demand it. Quality is a vital component of any visit, be it for business or leisure and impacts on visitor perceptions of the destination as a whole.

To retain our position as one of the top three visitor destinations in the UK for overseas visitors, Visit Manchester has made a commitment to raise quality standards across Greater Manchester. This will be achieved through national assessment schemes, skills, training and tourism business support.

In line with Visit Britain's commitments to quality, Visit Manchester operates the following policy:

  • Visit Manchester will only work with accommodation businesses that have been quality assessed and graded by a recognised body or in the case of new accommodation, businesses that are awaiting assessment. 
  • Visit Manchester will only work with visitor attractions that are members of the Visitor Attraction Quality Assurance Service (VAQAS) or in the case of new visitor attractions are awaiting accreditation. 


Visit Manchester members that are not currently part of a quality assurance scheme may be eligible for support towards becoming accredited by Quality in Tourism, VAQAS, National Accessible Scheme or the Green Tourism Business Scheme.
