England’s Northwest seeks ‘perfect 10’ at national tourism awards
Ten tourism businesses from England’s Northwest have been shortlisted for the annual Enjoy England Awards for Excellence. Organised annually by Visit England, the awards recognise the best of the country’s tourism businesses and professionals.
This year the Northwest has the highest numbers of nominees, more than any other region in the country and the most the region has ever secured. The shortlist highlights the strength of the region’s tourism industry and reflects the increasingly high standards that are to be found across the Northwest.
All of the shortlisted nominees have already won at the England’s Northwest Tourism Awards organised by the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) and will now be pitted against their counterparts from across England at the Awards Ceremony at Birmingham University’s Great Hall on Friday 15th April.

Nick Brooks-Sykes, Director of Tourism at the NWDA, said:
“Once again tourism in England’s Northwest has come out on top with 10 businesses shortlisted for the prestigious national awards. This also secures the region’s place as the most successful region in the country in terms of shortlisted finalists at the national awards over the past five years.
“This is great news for the Northwest and a true reflection of the hard work and enthusiasm of our regional tourism industry. Excellent service, ever increasing quality and value for money is establishing the region as a major visitor destination, providing a benchmark for quality, not just across the region, but across the country.”
Jeremy Brinkworth, head of business development at VisitEngland and member of the judging panel commented:
“It has been truly inspiring to be reminded of the wonderful events, institutions, accommodation and people we have working within England’s tourism industry. We have been impressed with the level of dedication shown by each of the businesses to their guests as well as their local environment. This year’s finalists have raised the bar and it is fantastic to be able to reward this commitment.”
