Radio professionals descend on Manchester
10th February 2011
Around 200 of the UK radio industry’s leading professionals will descend on Manchester next month for RPIN 2011 – The UK Radio Production Conference.
The event, which takes place at The Lowry in Salford Quays on Tuesday 22 March, will also provide many of the delegates with their first glimpse of the MediaCityUK development.
One of the keynote speakers at the conference will be the BBC’s new commissioning editor for Radio 1 and 1Xtra, Piers Bradford, who will use the event to outline his vision for documentaries, social action features and specials across both networks.
Paul Simpson, managing director of Visit Manchester, the tourist board for the city-region, said: “This is a great opportunity for Manchester to showcase the city – and in particular, the MediaCityUK development – to the radio industry.
“Combined with our successful hosting of The Media Festival in 2009 and 2010, RPIN 2011-The UK Radio Production Conference contributes to our objective to position Manchester as a centre for media and creative industries.”
Other speakers at the conference include: Director of BBC audio and music, Tim Davie and the head of commissioning at Irish state broadcaster RTE, Lorelei Harris.
