Visit Manchester appoints new head of business tourism

Steven Small has been appointed head of business tourism at Visit Manchester, the tourist board for the Manchester city-region.
In his new role, Steven will head up a team of 12 and will be responsible for Visit Manchester’s contribution to the city’s £573m a year business tourism industry.
During his career, Steven has gained experience of both the public and private sector, having previously held posts with Ernst & Young LLP and the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA).
Paul Simpson, managing director of Visit Manchester, said: “Steven’s background in dealing with corporate clients to influence investment decisions, develop business plans and access public funding will be a great asset to the business tourism team. He has an in-depth knowledge of the workings of the Manchester city-region and the importance of the visitor economy.”
Commenting on his new role, Steven said: “I’m looking forward to the challenge ahead - Manchester’s profile as a conference destination has never been as high.”
Steven replaces Catherine Walker, who had been head of business tourism at Visit Manchester for four years.
